Knowledge and movement = The ultimate pain reliever.
Pain serves to alert us... after that, it is not needed.
The primary intention within this class is for you to retain usable techniques for managing and reducing hip and back stress....for the rest of your life!
To achieve that goal, the class will include the following:
- A bit of anatomy so you understand what you are working on.
- A bit of physiology, so you understand how it works.
- And mostly simple techniques and procedures so you understand what to do.
Homework:
The magic within this body of knowledge includes listening to what your pain is alerting you to, understanding the message, and responding with the appropriate movement.
Your homework includes three assignments:
1-Familiarize yourself with the term 'Homeostasis' and consider this information as it applies to our physical balance.
https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/what-is-homeostasis
Homeostasis: The state of balance within all physical systems needed for a body to function properly and survive. In a state of homeostasis, body levels are constantly adjusting in response to changes outside and inside the body.
2-Locating and palpating numerous muscles and boney landmarks on your body. The images will assist you in finding and feeling. 'Finding and Feeling' are important components in the 'Fix It' portion of the class.
Find and Feel.
Use the play and pause buttons.
Find the top of your hip with your fingers.
You now have a starting tactile landmark to guide you in finding and feeling the surrounding area with more precision.

3- Watching this classic movie, 'The Nose Ring.'
We will send you a reminder about a week before class using the email you used at PayPal.
I will host a follow-up question-and-answer discussion via Zoom. The invitation will be sent to the email you used to register for this class. Details TBD.
The intention and goals are for you to walk out of this 90-minute class with knowledge, tools, and remedial techniques that you can use throughout your day to reduce the pains associated with overly stressed muscles in your hip and lower back region. I am very confident you will succeed in reducing your pain.
I suggest including filling out my standard intake form and, after using the information from class, doing it again and comparing.
For Class:
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.
If you wish to take notes, I suggest you bring a notepad.
The class handout is available for download here.
Taum will be presenting focused remedial movements and massage techniques.
Self-help toolbox:
If you do not have a Thera Cane or foam roller currently, you should consider acquiring them before class to bring with you. If supplies are available, there may be several available for purchase at class.
They are also available here.
The Thera Cane and foam roller can be very efficient and effective in reducing muscle tension in your mid and upper backs, which directly affects the lower back and hip region. Please arrive a few minutes early.
You will be invited to a Zoom Q'n A session following this class.
Date and time TBD.
