The Lift
(I suggest you bookmark this page.)
The intention and goals are for you to walk out of this unique class remembering a minumum of 3 remedial movement techniques for reducing pain in your lower back and hips.
I am very confident you will succeed in reducing your pain.
I guarantee these remedial techniques:
If you do not use them, they will not help you.
I suggest including filling out my standard intake form and, after using the information from class, doing it again and comparing. This serves you in a number of ways.
For Class:
-Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.
-If you wish to take notes, I suggest you bring a notepad.
-The class handout is available for download here.
Self-help toolbox:
If you do not have a Thera Cane or foam roller currently, you should consider acquiring them before class to bring with you. If supplies are available, there may be several available for purchase at class for $30.
They are also available here.
The Thera Cane and foam roller can be very efficient and effective in reducing muscle tension in your mid and upper backs, which directly affects the lower back and hip region. Please arrive a few minutes early.
The magic within this body of knowledge includes listening to what your body is alerting you to, understanding the message, and responding with the appropriate movement.
The ultimate pain relievers = knowledge and movement.
Find, feel, move, and relax :-)
Homework:
Your homework includes three assignments:
1-Familiarize yourself with the term 'Homeostasis' and consider this information as it applies to our physical balance.
https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/what-is-homeostasis
Homeostasis: The state of balance within all physical systems needed for a body to function properly and survive. In a state of homeostasis, body levels are constantly adjusting in response to changes outside and inside the body.
2-Locating and palpating numerous muscles and boney landmarks on your body. The images will assist you in finding and feeling. 'Finding and Feeling' are important component steps to get to the 'Fix It' portion of the class.
Find and Feel.
Use the play and pause buttons.
Find the top of your hip with your fingers.
You now have tactile landmarks to guide you in finding and feeling the surrounding area with more precision.

3- Watching this classic movie, 'The Nose Ring.'
